Who is A Farm Girl by Tess? - A Farm Girl by Tess

Who is A Farm Girl by Tess?

Have you ever wondered what it's like to live on a farm in northern South Dakota? Well, let me introduce you to my family. We're not your typical farming family. We raise beef cattle, Targhee sheep, and chickens. But that's not all! I also have a knack for crafting. I make hand crocheted women's and kids beanies from alpaca blend yarn, and we even make handmade wood earrings for those with sensitive ears. It's a wild and woolly life, and we wouldn't have it any other way!

How did it all start?

It all began when my husband Mark and I got married in 2013. He grew up in the area and has been a farmer his whole life while I grew up outside of Denver, CO and grew up a city girl. We three children, Willa (9 years old), Coralie (8 years old), and Colvin (5 years old). I started my small business in September of 2021. I was looking for some income outside of our farm while still being able to continue farming and raising our animals... I mean kids. Hahahaha!

Wood you believe it? Crafting with a twist

While crocheting became our passion, we wanted to explore other creative avenues as well. That's when we discovered the art of woodworking. But there was a catch - I have very sensitive ears and can't wear regular earrings. So, I decided to make handmade wood earrings that are not only stylish but also gentle on sensitive ears. It's a win-win situation!

Life on the farm: A wild ride

Living on a farm is never boring. From feeding the animals to crocheting and engraving, there's always something to do. But amidst the chaos, we find joy in the simple things. Watching our kids play with the sheep and chickens, seeing the satisfaction on someone's face when they wear one of my creations - these are the moments that make it all worthwhile.
